It is not impossible to keep your garden weed free. Are you one of those people who feel like they have tried everything than they could possibly try and the weeds still seem to grow and kill your flowers? Well if you happen to find yourself in this category don't panic because there is actually hope for you and your plants.
You should make sure that you treat the ground before you plant your flowers. If you are not interested in planting any flowers and just want your lawn to look beautiful then you can just work on purchasing some good old fashioned weed killer. Make sure that you take the time to read the bag so that you can take all of the necessary precautions and so that you actually use it properly. Once you have done this then all you have to do is keep them out. This will mean that you will have to keep a supply of weed killer around. Or you can find a weed killer that works really well and does not have to be applied that often. When choosing which weed killer you will be using you need to make sure that you choose one that will not cause any damage to your grass. These are known as selective weed killers which focus on certain types of weeds. This is why it is important for you to understand exactly what kind of weeds you are dealing with.
Some weeds such as Creeping Charlie may need to be removed with chemicals; treat them in the fall when nutrients are stored in the root system. If you do need to treat with chemicals, use a granule, you are less likely to contaminate aquatic life as you would with a liquid. Read and follow all label directions.
There are even some week killers that will help your lawn to look good. The bottom line is that it will definitely take some work and effort on your part in order for your lawn to look as good as you would like it to look.
You should never think that you can just get away with pulling the weeds out once during the summer months and then that is it. You will need to stay on top of it. Remember that most weeds will just end up killing your lawn and really make your lawn look a lot worse than it really is. Some people choose to do this work themselves and others prefer to hire someone to get the job done. Of course as your lawn gets healthier then you will definitely end up having a lot less work to worry about. You could also ask for some additional help when you visit your local lawn and garden center. They often have classes during the summer months that you can sign up for that will give you additional tips and suggestions on how to care for your lawn.
With a little extra effort you can have a weed-free lawn. Weeds cannot grow in a healthy lawn as they are crowded out. The time and effort becomes less and less over the years and eventually will become maintenance free.
Having a weed free garden will allow you to enjoy and have more fun and relaxation in the summer. With just a little hard work upfront, the rest of the gardening season will be a breeze.
